Kiawah Island Marathon & Other Local Events
The Kiawah Island marathon is one of many popular Island events, drawing large numbers of runners for the Island's beautiful views. Other events offer relaxing family fun while nearby Charleston takes it up a notch with world-famous annual festivals highlighting the arts, food and wine, sailing, and more!
Here are a few regular events to check out while you're on Kiawah Island. Remember to also look at our page on Charleston, South Carolina for information on its exciting annual festivals, including:

Events on Kiawah:
Kiawah Island annually hosts the very popular Kiawah Island Marathon. This event takes place in December right on the Island and this year is scheduled for December 11, 2010. For marathoners, this beautiful run offers incredible ocean views not to mention world-class resort amenities for when you're not running.
» TIP: If you're not coming to Kiawah Island for the marathon, you may want to book a different weekend as this event draws large crowds and fills up local hotels.
The Kiawah Island Golf Resort plans a full schedule of Independence Day activities and shows for the July 4th weekend every year, including fireworks on the beach in front of the Sanctuary and or a festival in Night Heron Park with fireworks, live music, face painting, carnival games and rides, plenty of food and more! You can also catch a Sand Sculpting Contest between 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Boardwalk #5 and a patriotic bike parade at starting at 5:15 p.m. at Sea Forest Drive at East Beach Village with bike decorating to begin at 4:30pm.

April 3, 2010, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Easter Festival including live music, local artwork, a clown, a jump castle, facepainting, a visit from the Easter Bunny, and more.
April 24, 2010, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Kiawah Island Earth Fest. Celebrate Earth Day in Night Heron Park with arts and crafts, live entertainment, contests, games, and food.
May 1, 2010, 6 - 9 p.m.: 4th Annual Make-A-Wish Wine Festival on the Village Green. Sample from 85 domestic and international wines while you enjoy authentic Charleston cuisine and live music. The Foundation will grant a wish on stage for one special Lowcountry child. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 and include a commemorative wine glass. For tickets, call the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 853-7880 or the Freshfields Village Guest Services Office, 768-6491.
September 19, 2010, 7:30 a.m.: Kiawah Island Triathlon which includes a 1.5 kilometer swim, a 45 kilometer bike ride, and a 10 kilometer run starting from Beachwalker Park. This event is limited to 400 participants.
