Hilton Head Hotels, Resorts, & Vacation Rentals
Hilton Head hotels and resorts offer a range of options for comfort, fun, and food. Find the perfect place to stay while you play on this beautiful and exciting island!
Hilton Head hotels and resorts are available in every type, size, and budget ... so the best is one that most fits your tastes and the vacation you're looking for.
The two largest resorts are Sea Pines and Palmetto Dunes – Each Hilton Head resort includes a marina-centered town full of activities and restaurants which can be enjoyed regardless of whether you're a guest at those resorts.
Here are a few notable Hilton Head hotels and resorts of different types:
Sea Pines Resort – The original Hilton Head resort, Sea Pines, sits on 5,000 acres and contains 4 different "neighborhoods" so even within this one resort, you have different types of accommodation options. You can stay in the hotel itself, called the Inn at Harbour Town, or rent a private villa within one of Sea Pines' neighborhoods. The Inn at Harbour Town is elegant and reasonably priced.
The resort contains Harbour Town, where the landmark red-and-white striped Hilton Head lighthouse stands tall over the marina. Around the marina, you'll find plenty of restaurants, shops and water sport outfitters.
Sea Pines is a golfer's paradise. Home to an annual stop on the PGA tour, the resort offers several golf packages. Similarly, the resort is a haven for tennis enthusiasts, boasting state-of-the-art tennis facilities.
It's size and diverse island offerings make Sea Pines a "one-stop-shop" where you can experience a true Hilton Head vacation.
I had a wonderful stay in the Inn at Harbour Town in Sea Pines in October 2009. While the walls are a bit thin so we occasionally heard our neighbors' TV, our room was beautiful with an especially large, well-appointed wash room. The service at the hotel is excellent and the price is more than reasonable for the quality of the hotel. Sea Pines itself is a sanctuary of old Hilton Head beauty and calm amidst increasing island development.
Palmetto Dunes – Where Sea Pines contains Harbour Town, Palmetto Dunes contains Shelter Cove - a busy spot full of restaurants, shops, water sport rentals, events and nightlife. The resort itself offers 3 championship golf courses as well as tennis courts, water sport and bike rentals, kids camps and activities and much more! The hotel offers free buggy rides to the beach for resort guests.
Disney Vacation Club - In true Disney style, this large resort caters to your children's every fantasy with help from "cast members" and a number of Disney-themed programs and activities. The Disney Hilton Head Island resort also helps you plan and book your island activities and rentals so you can enjoy what Hilton Head offers outside of the Club.
Your children can enjoy lots of Disney fun while you occasionally slip away to the beach or a romantic dinner. If you crave a true Lowcountry island experience, though, the commercial theme here might disctract you from an authentic sense of an island escape.
Main Street Inn – If you're looking for a quieter getaway, this charming and beautiful inn provides a smaller, close-to-the-inland experience. Enjoy the finely appointed rooms and venture out to explore everything Hilton Head.
You'll have plenty of options to choose from among the hotels in Hilton Head SC! From expansive resorts, to major hotel chains offering luxurious accommodations, including the Westin and more than one Marriott, to independent, more casual accommodations, there's something for every taste on Hilton Head Island.
Hilton Head Island Vacation Rentals
An alterative to the popular Hilton Head Island resorts, Hilton Head Island vacation rentals offer a great way to relax in the peace and quiet of your own condo, villa, or home and get a real sense of the island.
Hilton Head Island condos and villas are available for rent at some of the popular resorts. Hilton Head Island vacation rentals are also available through private owners. If you rent at Sea Pines for example, you get the quiet serenity of your own village, while still having access to the resort's amenities. You'll find similar villa options at Sea Crest Villas and Palmetto Dunes among others.
Don't fret through – if you book a Hilton Head Island vacation rental from a private owner, you'll still be able to find PLENTY to see, do, and enjoy on the island!
» A highlight of having your own villa is the ability to make your own meals using the island's freshest ingredients! Get fresh fruit and vegetables at the Farmers Market in the Mall at Shelter Cove in the Summer and fresh seafood right off the boats at the Benny Hudson Seafood Market!
When choosing among Hilton Head hotels or vacation rentals, consider the type of vacation you're looking for - whether that's a private-feeling home-away-from-home, a sense of being right in the middle of the action, a quiet retreat, or a magical world for the kids. It's all here on Hilton Head Island!
