One interesting feature new to Charleston is that the City of Charleston SC has become a depature port for several major cruise lines. You can now take cruises from Charleston SC and visit destinations throughout the Caribbean and Mexico. A fun vacation for you and your family may be to spend a few days visiting beautiful Charleston, then hop aboard a cuise ship and set sail for the Caribbean. I've done this myself and had a great time sailing from Charleston to Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Key West in December. Not a bad way to spend a winter week!
Travel to Charleston SC:
Conveniently accessible via a major airport and Interstate 95, Charleston is easy to get to! If you're visiting downtown, be sure to pick up a map of Charleston South Carolina so you can get the lay of the land and understand the grid of streets on the Peninsula. Many are one-way to if you plan to drive around downtown, you'll want to see the easiest way to get where you want to go!
By Air:
The Charleston South Carolina Airport (airport code CHS) is about 20 minutes outside of downtown Charleston. The airport serves most major airlines. One you exit the airport, follow I-26 East directly onto the Charleston peninsula.
By Car:
Take I-95 to I-26. Follow I-26 East directly into downtown Charleston, South Carolina.
